Sandals Royal Bahamian

Another one high on the bucket list for me was Sandals Royal Bahamian. once the crown jewel in the Sandals resort chain. A resort rich in history (this location was a favourite vacation spot for British Royalty back in the day!) and culture, it is a favourite for destination weddings and honeymooning couples.

Unfortunately we had a rough patch of weather when we were there so the photos aren’t showing the beautiful bright sunshine that normally drenches the Bahamas but hopefully you get the idea!

There are three accommodation areas:

  • Balmoral Ocean Village
  • The Royal Village
  • The Windsor Tower (much of this has been recently refurbished)

Sandals Royal Bahamian also has its own private island! Here are some pics and a video:

There are many restaurant options to choose from at this resort including:

  • Royal Cafe
  • Baccarat (French)
  • Crystal Room (Mediterranean)
  • Kimonos (Japanese)
  • Spices (Caribbean by night, buffet by day)
  • Casanova (Italian)
  • Schooners (Seafood)
  • Cricketer’s Pub
  • Bella Napoli Pizzeria
  • Gordon’s on the Pier (Seafood) – when I was there a family of rays swam buy in the illuminated nighttime waters….
  • The Duke & Duchess Piano Bar

And of course… weddings! The wedding gazebo is the favourite spot for wedding ceremonies, overlooking the beach and ocean but without the hassle of sand:

Another popular location is the garden gazebo:

Sandals offers incredible customizable wedding packages.

Unfortunately this is not a suitable location for Catholic destination weddings as there is no chapel onsite. You would have to make arrangements at a local Catholic church and go offsite for your ceremony, having the reception back at the hotel.

Sadly, the Bahamas is not friendly to the LGBT community so same sex weddings are not performed. If you are looking for a similar type of resort for your LGBT wedding let us know!

We would love to help you plan your wedding at Sandals Royal Bahamian!
